The wake is from a ferry to Vancouver Island.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted the wake to be mostly matt in contrast to the shiny water on either side of it. \u00a0I first glued some thread lint (finely chopped thread) in a range of colours to the background. \u00a0This helps bulk it up a little above the surface of the water and gives it that frothy look. \u00a0Over this I couched some matt sewing threads in various shades, using thicker threads closer to the bottom of the picture to help with perspective. \u00a0It was quite tough pushing the needle through the thicker layer of lint, so this may be my first and last wake, at least for such a large seagoing vessel!<\/p>\n<p>This piece and a few others will be on show at <a href=\"http:\/\/threadedviews.com\/main\/?page_id=22\">Positively Petite<\/a> starting November 13 at Place des Arts, Coquitlam.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hand embroidery and thread lint on hand-painted charmeuse, 3 x 4 inches.
